Should you have a profile on LinkedIn
When I am discussing websites and online marketing with clients, they often ask about having a presence on the social media websites such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. There are different benefits these social media platforms can give to your online marketing depending on your industry and how active you are. Google have said that they do look at social media presents as part of their ranking algorithm, which helps them order sites on the search engine result pages. Some companies may actually get additional work from using social media, this often works well for Business to Consumer type businesses such as hairdressers or beauticians.
LinkedIn is becoming more and more popular at present, and anyone can set one up although you do need to link it to a personal profile. LinkedIn works very well for professionals as you can build up a portfolio of skills and expertise. Often people will add you on LinkedIn based purely on your interests and skill set as it may be that they require your services or that they share similar interests. Having a company profile again just adds to your whole online presents and I believe all companies should set up profiles on as many of the social media sites as possible.
