Should you build micro sites?
If you have a website then you may of heard of the term micro sites. These can be used for a number of different reason but are designed to allow a business to theme a whole mini site around a specific product or service they offer. This can then allow them to highly optimise this site for that search term (or permutations) without having to try and get the site ranked for lots of different phrases.
Some of the big players in the world of online sales still use micro sites today. But should you have some?
A micro site is usually a 3-4 page mini website that has information on it that is very relevant to a specific topic or product. Often the micro site will link back to the main website in order to gain traffic that way too.
If for example you own a gym that also sells diet plans and products then you may want to create a micro site that has videos, reviews and images all relating to that product and service. If someone then wants to buy that product, you may link back through to your main site for the checkout procedure to be completed.
